The Funeral of Shame

A creative ritual for changing your relationship with shame

Meet it. Give it a eulogy. Bury it. Then make space for what wants to emerge.

What if you don't need to heal, fix, analyze, or understand one more thing?

The Funeral of Shame is a guided creative ritual for changing your relationship with the shame that has been making you hide, shrink, second-guess yourself, or believe you aren't allowed to become something more.

In the personal growth world, almost everyone tells you to go deeper. Dig into your childhood, dig into your triggers, dig into whatever's underneath the thing you're actually trying to fix. Examine it. Journal about it. Reframe it. Turn it into a lesson.

I've done a version of this more times than I can count, circling back into the same handful of memories, hoping that this round of digging would finally be the one that changed something. Sometimes it does.

But some shame isn't waiting to be understood better. You might already know exactly where it came from and what it's cost you, and understanding it hasn't loosened its grip, not even a little. You've turned it over in your hands so many times it's gone smooth, and it still weighs exactly the same.

Maybe it doesn't need another round of digging. Maybe it needs a funeral.

Why a funeral and why me?

I'm Anna-Emilia Hietanen, an intuitive artist, educator, and founder of Intuitive Soul Painting. I create gentle, sometimes slightly unusual ways to explore our inner lives through creativity, intuition, symbolism, mythology, and reflection.

Before any of this, I spent years in history and memory studies, including teaching Nordic mythology at the university level. Cultures have always marked hard thresholds with ritual, not because ritual erases what happened, but because it draws a line: this happened, it affected me, and it doesn't get to decide who I'm becoming.

Reflection alone can loop forever. A funeral doesn't. It gives shame a shape, a moment, and an ending, so it can stop living inside you and start being something you've simply put down.

INTRODUCING:

The Funeral of Shame

This is a guided creative ritual for consciously changing your relationship with a piece of shame you no longer want to carry in the same way.

You're not going to pretend it never happened.
You're not going to force yourself to forgive anyone.
You're definitely not going to turn every painful experience into a beautiful life lesson.
And I'm not going to promise you'll perform one ritual and never experience shame again.

Instead, you're going to meet one manageable piece of shame, listen to what it has been saying, give it a physical form...  and hold its funeral.
Yes.  There is a eulogy.
And your shame is the guest of honor.

The Funeral of Shame gives you a real, symbolic way to say goodbye to it, instead of analyzing it over one more time. And once it's laid to rest, there's room to notice what wants to grow in where it used to be.

Common questions

No. The first meditation is built to help you find it. You don't need to know yet what you want to work with.

The Funeral of Shame is a creative reflection and personal ritual. It is not therapy, art therapy, mental-health treatment, or a replacement for professional support.  You are always in control of how deeply you engage with the experience. You can pause or stop at any time, and you do not need to explore traumatic or overwhelming experiences for this ritual to be meaningful.

If something feels too big to explore on your own, you seek professional help or someone you trust.

Something simple to write, draw or paint with. No special materials nor art experience is required.

You choose. Some people move through both meditations and the funeral in one sitting, others space it out over several days. Nothing here is timed or rushed.

That can happen, and it doesn't mean you did the ritual wrong or that you failed. This isn't about making shame disappear forever, it's about changing how you carry it. You can return to this any time something needs its own funeral.

As this is a digital product and you get inmediate access to it, there are no refunds. However, if you aren't satisfied you can contact us and we can see what we can do.
